Selecting A Host

Once you decide to build a website, you'll have to select a host for it. They're called "hosts" because your website resides like a guest on their website server. You pay a monthly fee, like renting a room, for this service.
When someone types a web address (URL) into their computer browser Address Box, that address is directed from the Internet's NameServer to the host's server where your website resides. All this happens in a split second!
Some ISPs (Internet Service Provider) offer web space when you use their connection service. This is usually about 5 megs of space. While this "free" space can be used, there are often limitations on the amount of traffic your webiste will be allowed without an additional charge, or limits on the types of sites hosted.
I believe it is always best to work with a host recommended by your website developer. Your developer works closely with hosts and knows which ones offer good, reliable service and prices. The developer will also know what type of sites are hosted and if there are any limits on website traffic.
Additionally, if there's a problem with your host, your developer will be able to work with him or her to resolve the problem.
If you have a competent developer, selecting a good host should be easy.
